In my late teens I drank mostly beer and cheap hard liquor (1 dollar shots of vodka at bVerkhovyna/b in the East Village!). At that time the drinking age in NY was 18, and most delis had a decent selection of imported beer, and I found that I enjoyed more ... We were in Paris last December and enjoyed visiting La Cremerie, it was just down the street from our bhotel/b, and also Racines.
